Your data. In plain language.

Last updated February 2026. No legalese, no 40-page document. Here's what we collect, why, and what we do with it.

We don't sell your personal information. We don't sell your phone number to contractors. We don't run a lead-gen operation disguised as a directory. Your quotes contribute to market pricing data — your identity doesn't leave the platform.

What we collect

When you upload a quote, we extract the pricing data — line items, totals, materials, scope of work, and the contractor name. This data is used to build market pricing ranges for your area. Your uploaded document is stored securely and is never shared publicly.

When you create an account, we collect your email address and the city or area you're in. We use this to show you relevant local data and to send you updates if you opt in.

We collect standard analytics data — pages visited, time on site, general location at the city level. This helps us understand how people use quotecheck.homes and where to improve. We don't fingerprint your browser or build advertising profiles.

How quotes become market data

When you submit a quote, the pricing details are anonymized and aggregated into category-level market data. This means: your bathroom remodel quote becomes one data point in the "Bathroom Remodel" pricing range for Spokane, WA. No one can see your specific quote, your address, or your contractor relationship.

Contractor names and pricing positions are visible in aggregate — homeowners can see that a contractor's quotes typically fall in a certain range. This is crowdsourced from all submitted quotes, not from any single homeowner's submission.

What we don't do

We don't sell your contact information. Period. No phone number sales, no email list sharing, no "get matched with 5 contractors" lead-gen games. If you want to contact a contractor, you choose to do that on your own terms.
We don't share your uploaded documents with contractors. If a contractor has a premium profile, they can see their aggregate market position — not your individual quote.
We don't use your data for third-party advertising. We don't run programmatic ads that track you across the internet.

Contractor data

Contractor profiles on quotecheck.homes are built from publicly available information (business name, location, license status) and crowdsourced data from homeowner-submitted quotes. Contractors can claim their profile, add context, and manage their presence.

Crowdsourced pricing data is presented in aggregate — ranges, not specific quotes. A contractor's profile might show that their kitchen remodel quotes typically fall between $15k–$25k based on homeowner submissions. This is market intelligence, not private disclosure.

Cookies and tracking

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We use analytics cookies to understand site usage. We don't use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking pixels.

You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings without losing core functionality.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored on encrypted servers in the United States. Uploaded quote documents are stored separately from account data. We use industry-standard security practices including encryption in transit and at rest, row-level security on all database tables, and regular security reviews.

We retain your data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed. Anonymized pricing data that has already been aggregated into market ranges remains — it's no longer connected to you in any way.

Your rights

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your data in any material way, we'll email active users before the change takes effect. We won't bury updates in fine print and hope nobody notices.
